About Rainhill
Rainhill is a village and civil parish in the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens, Merseyside, 1.5 miles east of Prescot and 9.3 miles east of Liverpool city centre. The 2011 census population was 10,853.
Rainhill railway station is on the Liverpool City Line, and the M62 has a junction at Rainhill Stoops. The George Stephenson Skew Bridge was described as the world’s first bridge to cross a railway at an angle, and the 1829 Rainhill Trials were held here.
