Renting in Portishead: what it means for your move-out clean
Portishead lies on the Severn Estuary about eight miles west of Bristol, where the tidal range can reach 15 metres (49 feet), second only to the Bay of Fundy in Canada. It grew from a fishing port into an industrial town: the first power station started generating in 1929 and a second followed in 1955, while an Albright and Wilson chemical works opened in 1951. The power stations closed in 1976 and 1982.
Those industrial sites are now homes. The old deep-water dock has become Portishead Quays, a marina with 250 pontoon berths, and new residential districts have been built on the former power station and chemical works land. The town had 26,366 residents at the 2021 census. Its open-air pool is one of the UK’s few surviving lidos, and the Lake Grounds remain a popular park.
The railway to Bristol closed in 1964, but full funding to reopen it was agreed on 10 February 2025. Across North Somerset about 216,700 people were counted in 2021, and 18.4% of households rented privately, up from 16.2% in 2011. Since the Renters’ Rights Act took effect on 1 May 2026, English tenancies roll month to month and tenants typically give two months’ notice, while the check-in inventory still sets the standard for your deposit.

Each bathroom is priced individually, so a two-bedroom, two-bathroom flat starts at £240 rather than £195. The quote shows exactly what’s included.
Where will the team park at the marina?
Tell us about visitor bays or building car parks when you book. If there’s no free parking, we’ll ask you to cover the cost of a nearby space.
Do you cover Pill and Easton-in-Gordano?
Yes. We clean across the BS20 villages on the same fixed pricing as the town.
Does the switch to rolling tenancies affect my clean?
No. Whatever notice you give, the flat still has to match the condition recorded at check-in, allowing for fair wear and tear.
