Sunbury-on-Thames is a town on the north bank of the River Thames in the Borough of Spelthorne, Surrey. Historically part of Middlesex, it was transferred to Surrey in 1965 rather than becoming part of Greater London. It comprises Lower Sunbury, a riverside area with parks and historic buildings, and Sunbury Common, a more built-up area; its parish church, St Mary’s, was rebuilt in 1752 to a design by Stephen Wright.
