Coulsdon is a suburban town in south London, in the London Borough of Croydon, forming part of the North Downs with chalk and flint hills. Originally called Smitham Bottom, it was renamed Coulsdon in 1905 after overtaking the older settlement in population. Its parish church, St John the Evangelist, is Grade I listed and dates in part from the 13th century.
