About Leith
Leith is a suburb in the north of Edinburgh, Scotland, lying at the mouth of the Water of Leith within the City of Edinburgh council area. It had a population of 50,030 at the 2011 census.
In 1905 Leith became the first town in Scotland to electrify its tram system, and the Edinburgh Trams extension opened in June 2023 with stops including Balfour Street and The Shore. The Royal Yacht Britannia is permanently moored there.
